What is FAR Infrared?

Far InfraRed Rays have been known for many years as the ’Light of Life” where the advantages of the FIR rays in therapeutic use first became common in Korea, Japan and China and though invisible they are an integral part of the sun’s spectrum
Since then Thermal Infra Red heating has been used extensively in Europe and USA and the health benefits assessed and reported on. You may at times have used an infrared lamp as an aid to recovery from back pain or sprains and muscle lesions.
In Japan FIR heaters were used by the medical practitioners exclusively until 1979 when they were released for public use.
Human cells absorbs FAR IR energy emmitted by the Sun, causing a physical phenomenon called “resonance”. FIR rays vibrating at a frequency to that of the human body are thus able to activate cells, and reactivate as well as strengthen cells resulting in better blood circulation and an overall improved micro blood circulatory systems.
The body’s ability to  emit FAR IR energy is the reason behind some alternative healing practices such as ‘laying-on of hands’ and ‘palm healing’, a practice with some 3000 years of tradition behind it in China (known as “Qi-Gong therapy). Our palms in fact emit far infrared energy at between 8 to 12 microns.

Our sun’s energy output comes mostly from the IR segment of the spectrum, but it is the wavelength of between 6 and 14 microns that is most beneficial to humans and indeed to all living things on this earth.

The energy radiated by infrared [IR] rays heats objects directly, i.e. the intervening air is not heated, a process known as ‘conversion’. The IR segment of the Sun’s electromagnetic spectrum is divided into 3 parts: the near infrared wavelength: 0.076 to 1.5 microns, medium infrared wavelength: 1.5 to 5.6 microns, and the FAR INFRA RED wavelength: 5.6 to 1000 microns.

How Does FAR Infrared work?

The FAR IR rays’ energy when tuned to the human body is absorbed by the cells invigorating the cellular activities and stimulating the blood vessel allowing increased oxygen to reach the joints and extremities and carrying greater amounts of nutrients to cells and skin.
The heat energy produced penetrates the body tissues to a depth of 4 to 5cm quickly and efficiently, and instead of using energy to convert air to higher temperatures, as for example in a steam sauna, the energy is converted directly to heat the body. This is one of the reasons for the unprecedented benefits reported for the FIR Sauna system, unavailable from the use of a conventional steam sauna.
The volume of perspiration induced by FAR Sauna may be up to 8 times the volume obtained from a conventional sauna, yet the FIR sauna operates a significantly cooler air temperature 55-65oC, against the hot air sauna’s 80-110oC, so FIR saunas are safer for people with cardiovascular concerns.
Dr. Tsu-Tsair Oliver Chi observed in his explanation on the mechanism of actions of IR devices tuned to the human body, that the internal production of infrared energy that normally occurs within our tissues is associated with a variety of healing responses and could provide a boost to the fullest healing response possible in a tissue under repair. The phenomenon [also referred to above] is known as ‘resonant absorption’.
